Building a Home

We have been grateful for the home we have enjoyed at Gatehouse for these past years.  When we purchased it in 2003 we knew the house would not be a long-term solution for our housing needs.  In fact, we purchased the house "as is", knowing it would eventually be torn down to make room for a larger, and more functional home.
Our house has served its purposes well, but as our Board of Directors began assessing what we need in a home for long-term ministry to MKs and missionary families, they identified the following areas, which are either currently inadequate or non-existent:

  • Functional Kitchen
  • Study Library/Den
  • Adequate Bedroom areas
  • Common areas to entertain friends
  • Outdoor spaces (patios/verandas)
  • Quiet room for prayer & devotions
  • More private men's/ladies wings
  • Functional bathrooms
  • Large Family room
  • Parking space
  • Pantry/ Frozen Food Storage
  • Casual kitchen seating
  • Adequate Dining room seating
  • Guest suite for visiting missionary parents
  • More closet space
  • Storage for bikes
  • Sufficient Laundry facilities
  • Summer storage for MKs living on campus
  • Adequate office space
  • Private quarters for house parents
  • Private quarters for Gatehouse Directors
  • Garage/Work Shop
  • Better outdoor lighting
  • More efficient heating/air conditioning
