Every home has a rhythm of life. If you have toddlers, then you know the day starts abruptly with cries for cereal and shouts of play. Families with school age children live with the bustle of shuttling kids to soccer and ballet lessons. In the rhythm of life, there are those rare minutes parents call “teachable moments,” when all the distractions are set aside and for a few fleeting seconds something is communicated that impacts a young life. | |
| At Gatehouse Ministries we, too, look for teachable moments to help MKs apply spiritual and practical truths to their lives. The rhythm of life here plays a key role. Each day begins slowly and quietly. Students shuffle off to classes at Simpson. We begin our day in the office. By 5 pm the MKs are home and ready for afternoon chores and a family style dinner. By 7pm the house is once again empty as many retreat to their rooms or to the Simpson Library to study. Most of our MKs are home by 10 or 11 pm, and ready for a snack. The kitchen once again becomes a hub of activity and discussion. We have found many of these late night discussions lasting until 2 or 3 am. Tiring? Yes! Teachable moment? You bet! Trade it for a good night’s sleep? No Way! Please pray for stamina and moments of rest for us amidst the rhythm of life at Gatehouse. | ![]() |
